It is that time of the year again. Time to prepare and celebrate Chinese New Year. This is the year of the Sheep/ Goat/Ram, so if you were born in 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, and 2003 this is your year!
The actual date of Chinese New Year is February 19, 2015. A late one this year.
In our community the celebrations started on January 31, with the
Ohio Contemporary Chinese School celebration from 11:00am - 7:00 pm. This is the best and biggest celebration in Ohio. Chinese schools from different parts of Ohio come to participate in the celebration.

That same evening, we went to another celebration at the
Columbus School of Chinese. This celebration is for families and students of the school. Children and adults alike, had the opportunity to show their language skills by doing personal introductions and reciting some poetry. The dinner that followed was delicious.
This past weekend
Central Ohio Families with Children form China had it own celebration. Lion dancers welcomed in the New Year of the Sheep, and COFCC's Kids Chinese Arts Program children provided the entertainment.
The celebrations will continue for the next few weeks. We hope you have a chance to go out and enjoy the year of the Sheep.
